Chelsea have taken the lead over Brighton & Hove Albion in the race to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. According to the Leicester Mercury, Chelsea have opened talks with Leicester City to sign the midfielder and might include Datro Fofana in the deal. Leicester is looking to sell Dewsbury-Hall within the next 48 hours to comply with PSR regulations.
Brighton initially showed interest, but the deal fell through due to Dewsbury-Hall’s reluctance to join the Seagulls. This has prompted Chelsea to step in, aiming to reunite him with manager Enzo Maresca, who recently moved from Leicester to Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old midfielder had an impressive season in the Championship, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists, helping the Foxes secure a return to the Premier League. Chelsea has also proposed including Fofana, who joined for £10 million, as part of the deal to meet PSR requirements.
Last season, Fofana was on loan at Union Berlin, playing in the Champions League, before moving to Burnley for the second half, where he scored four goals in 15 Premier League appearances.
In other transfer news, Chelsea has an agreement in principle to sign 18-year-old Barcelona forward Marc Guiu. The teenager will train with the first team before a decision is made on whether he will stay or go on loan to Strasbourg in France.
Chelsea is also looking to sell players like Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah to raise funds for strengthening the team ahead of next season.
