Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano clarifies Enzo Maresca’s stance on Chelsea’s pursuit of Leicester City star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Armando Broja isn’t currently a likely part of Chelsea’s strategy to acquire Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City, as both clubs aim to finalize a deal before the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deadline. The 22-year-old Slough-born Albania striker has been suggested as one of three potential Chelsea players who could be offered to Leicester in a separate deal, which would help alleviate any PSR concerns for Leicester by the end of the financial year.
However, Broja is also attracting interest from Everton and other clubs, and his valuation might be too high for Leicester to consider him a feasible option in this context.
In a recent update, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano stated, “There is still interest from Everton, and another club inquired about Broja in the last 24 hours. At the moment, I am hearing there is no concrete progress with Leicester City regarding Armando Broja.
“Leicester was discussed, but currently, both Leicester and Chelsea recognize that Broja has other plans, and Chelsea values him highly, making it complicated to include him in a swap deal for Dewsbury-Hall.
“Discussions between Chelsea and Leicester are ongoing about Dewsbury-Hall. They are talking even now, so talks are active. We’ll see what happens in the coming hours, minutes, and days as Chelsea continues to pursue this deal.”
Dewsbury-Hall played a key role in Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca. However, Romano insists that Maresca’s subsequent move to Chelsea isn’t the main factor driving this potential transfer.
He explained, “Enzo Maresca approved the possibility of this transfer, and his opinion is important, but the deal originated from Chelsea’s recruitment team, not from Maresca himself. This is crucial to clarify.
“It’s important to note that while Maresca’s approval matters, the Dewsbury-Hall deal is primarily driven by Chelsea’s recruitment efforts.”
