Douglas Luiz has expressed his enduring passion for Aston Villa in a heartfelt message to supporters on social media.
The Brazilian midfielder has completed his €50m transfer to Juventus, a deal that helps Villa comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Luiz, who joined from Manchester City in the summer of 2019 following Villa’s promotion from the Championship, made 204 appearances for the club.
Over the past 20 months, the 26-year-old has been instrumental in Villa’s progress under Unai Emery, aiding their qualification for Europe, reaching the Europa Conference League semi-final, and securing Champions League qualification last season.
On Instagram, Luiz wrote: “The time has come to say see you soon, Villa Park. I want to start by thanking everyone—club, players, fans, and staff. This was a place where I felt at home. You fans made a significant impact on my career and will never be forgotten. I will miss you!
“I hope I made you proud. You can be sure that I always tried to give my best as a player and a human being. It was five years filled with joy, celebrations, struggles, learning, games, fun, and many other experiences.
“Now I will continue my journey at another club, but my love and passion for you will never fade. Thank you for everything, @avfcofficial.”
