Eberechi Eze has discussed his teammate Michael Olise, who is nearing a transfer to Bayern Munich. While Eze hasn’t confirmed Olise’s departure from Crystal Palace, he acknowledged that Olise possesses the talent and mentality to become one of the best in the world.
According to the Guardian, Chelsea initially led the race for the French star, and Manchester City made a late bid for him. However, Olise chose to move from London to Munich, where he’ll join former Tottenham and England captain Harry Kane and rising star Jamal Musiala.
Olise signed a new contract with Crystal Palace last August, which included a £60 million release clause after he declined Chelsea’s offer. Sources indicate that Olise’s move to Bayern is finalized and will be announced soon.
In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT while on England duty at the Euros, Eze praised Olise: “He’s an incredible player. I’ve enjoyed playing with him for two or three seasons now. He’s a top player, top talent with a top mentality. He’s got everything it takes to get to the top and to play at the highest level of football. Whether he’s going there or not [Bayern], he’s an incredible player and he’s got whatever it takes.”
Tottenham, meanwhile, is reportedly interested in Eze, as they seek to bolster their midfield for the upcoming season. Crystal Palace ended last season strongly, winning five of their last six games, including a victory at Anfield against Liverpool.
This strong finish has attracted interest from other clubs for Palace’s top players. New manager Oliver Glasner hopes the club can retain both Marc Guehi and Eze following Olise’s impending departure.
