He's ABSOLUTELY the one"- Alan Shearer picks who should start England’s next game… Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa or Brighton’s Lewis Dunk

**Alan Shearer Shares His Choice Between Ezri Konsa and Lewis Dunk for England**

Alan Shearer has weighed in on whether Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa or Brighton & Hove Albion’s Lewis Dunk should start for England against Switzerland on Saturday. With Marc Guehi suspended due to yellow card accumulation, a spot next to John Stones is available in England’s defense.

While Liverpool’s Joe Gomez is a potential candidate, it’s likely that either Konsa or Dunk, both trusted by Southgate during qualifying, will be chosen.

Konsa, 26, has had an impressive season with Villa and has thrived under Unai Emery. He now has five caps for England and played the final 15 minutes in Sunday’s comeback against Slovakia. Dunk, 32, has not played at Euro 2024 yet but has six caps and Southgate’s trust.

On the ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, Shearer expressed a preference for Konsa. He said, “Probably Konsa, I think. He’s the one who has been involved a little bit more so I would bring him in.”

While Konsa’s recent involvement makes him a strong choice, Dunk’s skills as a progressive centre-back could be valuable given England’s tactical needs. However, Dunk’s recent errors for Brighton and England might influence Southgate’s decision.

Konsa’s consistency for Villa makes him a safe and likely better option, though Dunk could offer high rewards if selected.
