Scottish defender Jack Hendry is garnering interest from multiple Premier League clubs and teams from the Saudi Pro League, according to HITC.
Hendry’s experience at the 2024 European Championships was disappointing as Scotland was eliminated by Hungary due to a last-minute goal. Last summer, Hendry transitioned from Belgian club Club Brugge to Saudi Arabia, joining Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
The 29-year-old, who previously played for Celtic before being sold in 2021, was a standout performer for Ettifaq. The team boasted the second-best defensive record in their league, conceding only 34 goals in 48 games. Hendry was the only foreign player to play every minute of every match, which caught the attention of PIF-owned clubs, particularly Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad.
In addition to interest from Saudi clubs, Premier League teams such as Fulham, Leicester City, and West Ham United are also reportedly considering Hendry. Despite Scotland’s struggles at Euro 2024, Hendry received praise for his performances, starting all three games for his national team.
Hendry’s past performances include a commendable game during a 1-1 draw between Club Brugge and Paris-Saint Germain, where he helped contain the threats of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar. Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish also praised Hendry after a 1-0 win over Hungary in 2018, highlighting his calm and confident demeanor.
Hendry has expressed that playing against top talents like Mbappe boosts his confidence, making a move to the Premier League a plausible prospect this summer.
