EXCLUSIVE; Everton  reportedly  in talks to land "ABSOLUTE TERRIFIC" Striker  who won Golden Boot in 2023/24

Everton, Leicester City, and Southampton have all begun discussions to sign Espanyol striker Martin Braithwaite, according to Tipsbladet.

The Danish news outlet reported on July 2 that the Denmark international is highly sought after following an “absolutely terrific” season in which he won the Golden Boot by scoring 22 goals in La Liga 2. Espanyol is also keen on keeping the 33-year-old and plans to offer him a new contract.

Everton should avoid signing Martin Braithwaite
At 33, Braithwaite is nearing the end of his career. Despite his impressive season in La Liga 2, scoring 22 goals, it’s uncertain if he can replicate this form in the Premier League, particularly given his age.

Signing Braithwaite would be a significant risk for Everton, as he may struggle to adapt to the demands of the English top flight. Additionally, his age suggests he wouldn’t have a long-term impact at Goodison Park.

The club should focus on building for the future by acquiring younger players who can develop and grow with the team. Adding Braithwaite would be a short-term solution that doesn’t align with Everton’s long-term ambitions.

Bringing in the 33-year-old could create unnecessary competition for places and potentially disrupt the team’s balance. Braithwaite would likely join only if guaranteed first-team football, and he may not be an upgrade over the current options.

In other Everton news, the club has received a green light to sign an award-winning player, with his agent confirming an exit is imminent.
