"According to what i was told, there's  nothing in...."- Alan Myers clarifies Everton's position on the summer transfer speculation surrounding Sekou Koita.

Alan Myers has revealed that there is “nothing in” the reports linking Everton with Sekou Koita during the summer transfer window.

Rumors from Africa had suggested that Everton were set to sign Koita, a free agent after leaving RB Salzburg, with personal terms supposedly already agreed [Africa Foot, 3 July].

Initially, Sky Sports journalist Myers had expressed uncertainty about Everton’s interest. However, he has now confirmed that, based on his information, a move for Koita is not currently in the works.

Responding to a fan on X on Friday (5 July) who asked for clarity on the matter, Myers replied, “I’m told nothing in it.”

**Are Everton Close to Any New Signings in the Summer Transfer Window?**

The rumors regarding Koita appeared suddenly and seemed like a plausible move for Everton, but it now seems to be typical transfer window speculation.

Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell have already strengthened the squad with the signings of Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Ireogbunam. While more additions are likely, nothing seems imminent at the moment.

A new striker might be necessary if Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaves Merseyside as some expect in the coming weeks. However, Everton’s current focus appears to be on other areas of the squad.

Fans can hope for one or two new signings before the Premier League season starts, but it’s equally crucial for Everton to retain key players like Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford amid transfer speculation.

While the transfer window has begun positively for Everton, there’s still much work to be done.

In other news, Everton might command a fee of £100 million for Jarrad Branthwaite next summer.
