MASSIVE BLOW for Tottenham as club honcho hints at deal for 21-year-old Euros star who has a “gift from God”

**Tottenham’s Pursuit of Nico Williams Hindered by Barcelona’s Interest**

Tottenham Hotspur faces a setback in their attempt to sign Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams as Barcelona president Joan Laporta hints at a potential deal. Speaking to Catalunya Radio, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Laporta disclosed that Barcelona has the financial capability to secure Williams this summer, who is also being targeted by several Premier League clubs.

Tottenham, along with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United, have shown interest in the 21-year-old, who has emerged as a standout performer at Euros 2024. Williams has become a key player for Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Bilbao team, and his impressive displays for Spain have drawn the attention of top European clubs.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed his admiration for Williams, stating, “I like Nico, a lot. I can say that financially we can make it happen. It’s a result of the work that has been done over all these years to reach this point.” He emphasized that Barcelona is in a position to make a high-level signing like Williams.

Williams, alongside Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal, has been one of the most exciting players in the Euros under Spain coach Luis de la Fuente. De la Fuente praised the young talents, saying, “They have a gift from God; very few players have these qualities. We’re trying to treat the situation normally, but also trying to explain by being humble, he will develop so much more.”

Despite Tottenham’s interest, reports suggest that Williams is inclined to reject Premier League offers in favor of a move to Barcelona if he decides to leave Athletic Bilbao this summer. With Barcelona’s financial readiness and intent, it seems likely that they will secure Williams, leaving Premier League clubs to look elsewhere.
