Tottenham Hotspur have returned to north London to begin pre-season training for the new campaign.
Ange Postecoglou’s team reported back to Hotspur Way over the weekend, with players gradually rejoining the squad.
Heung-min Son returned earlier this week after a short break, having flown back to London from South Korea.
The weekend also saw some new faces at Spurs training, including Archie Gray, who signed earlier in the week.
January signing Lucas Bergvall has finally joined his new team after moving from Swedish side Djurgardens.
Lucas Bergvall admits his first week at Tottenham has been challenging.
Spurs have signed several promising youngsters in recent windows, and Bergvall stands out as an exciting talent who will add a new dimension to their midfield.
Despite joining his compatriot Dejan Kulusevski and carrying high expectations, the 18-year-old still faces a significant adjustment period.
Bergvall shared his thoughts on his first few days of training with the club.
“It’s going really well. This is a fantastic club with amazing players and staff, so I’m really happy to be here and start pre-season,” he said after training on Monday.
“Training has been good but tough, with a lot of speed and power. It’s very different from Sweden, but it’s fun. This is an important time for me to get to know everyone before the season starts and build strong connections.”
How much football will Lucas Bergvall play at Tottenham?
Postecoglou faces an interesting decision regarding his starting midfield lineup for the upcoming season.
The Australian struggled to establish his best starting trio last season due to form and injuries.
However, he now has exciting options at his disposal for the new campaign.
With a busier schedule due to Europa League qualification, Spurs will need to rotate their starting XI regularly.
Given Bergvall and Gray’s lack of top-flight experience, it will be interesting to see if Bergvall starts in Europa League group stage games and potentially earns a spot in the Premier League XI.
Either way, it’s a good problem for Postecoglou to have.
