### Neal Maupay Impressed by Ashley Young in Everton’s Pre-Season Training
Neal Maupay has returned from his loan stint at Brentford and has been highly impressed by Ashley Young during Everton’s pre-season training.
#### Maupay’s Everton Career So Far
Maupay aims to improve after a disappointing start at Everton when the Toffees begin their 2024-25 campaign. He joined Everton in 2022 for £15 million but managed only one goal in 32 appearances. A loan spell at Brentford last season revitalized the French striker, as he scored eight goals for the Bees. Everton manager Sean Dyche hopes to see this form continue into the new season.
#### Pre-Season Training and Praise for Young
Maupay and his teammates have returned to Finch Farm for pre-season training. The 27-year-old striker singled out Ashley Young for his impressive performance during the sessions.
When asked about Young by Gabby Agbonlahor, Maupay told talkSPORT that the 39-year-old is “flying” in training.
“Younger is flying. We actually did some physical tests on Monday and Tuesday and he is always on top,” Maupay said. “It was his birthday on Tuesday, turning 39 – it is crazy. He is still flying, he is amazing. A top pro and a top guy.”
#### A Crucial Season Ahead for Everton
Everton aims for a less stressful season after narrowly avoiding relegation last year. Dyche’s squad excelled defensively but struggled offensively, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the scoring charts with just eight league goals.
Maupay, brought in to replace Richarlison, needs to step up his performance. Winning over the Everton fans is critical, and regular goals could quickly change their opinion of him.
The summer break is over for Everton players as they work to rebuild fitness and rhythm in training, with their first pre-season friendly scheduled for Friday, July 19th, against Sligo Rovers.
