Tottenham Hotspur are making a strong effort to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey to strengthen their squad this summer.

According to Ben Jacobs, Spurs remain highly interested in the 23-year-old despite Villa’s reluctance to sell him following Douglas Luiz’s transfer to Juventus.

Speaking to GMS, Jacobs highlighted that Tottenham are still considering Ramsey as a potential signing.

However, Villa’s desire to keep the Englishman means Spurs might need to present a substantial offer to secure his transfer.

Jacobs mentioned that if Spurs fail to sign Ramsey, they might look at alternatives such as Wolves’ Pedro Neto, Leipzig’s Lois Openda, and Lille’s Jonathan David.

He stated:

“Tottenham are still exploring whether Ramsey might be possible, but Villa don’t want to lose him, so they’re either going to have to pay big money for him, with or without Lo Celso, or they’re going to have to move on.

“And it may be that there are other players that they have a stronger chance of successfully getting, including Wolves’ Pedro Neto, Leipzig’s Lois Openda, and in a slightly different position, Lille’s Jonathan David.”

Tottenham have already strengthened their midfield by signing Archie Gray, but the club aims to further enhance this area by bringing in another midfielder.

Ramsey would be a valuable addition to Ange Postecoglou’s side.

His versatility, being able to play both as a number 8 and number 10, makes him an appealing option for the Lilywhites.
