Report: Bad news for Tottenham and Destiny Udogie amid injury recovery

Destiny Udogie underwent surgery late last season, and Spurs fans should not expect to see the Italian back in action just yet.

Udogie won’t play against Hearts
Tottenham players have returned to training as pre-season starts, and they have a friendly match against the Scottish side Hearts this week. However, Udogie will not participate in that game.

According to a report from Football.London, which details all the players likely to be involved in the behind-closed-doors friendly, there is an update on Udogie’s current condition.

The report states that Udogie is “not expected to be fit” enough to participate in the friendly against Hearts on Wednesday.

Instead, the full-back will “continue his rehabilitation” and will likely sit this one out. It remains to be seen whether Udogie will be ready for Tottenham’s next game, the friendly against QPR on Saturday.

Udogie underwent surgery on his left quadriceps after sustaining an injury at the end of April, causing him to miss Spurs’ final games of the season and Euro 2024 with Italy.

How bad is Udogie’s situation?
Speaking to Tottenham News shortly after Udogie’s surgery, injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar expressed uncertainty over Udogie’s recovery path, indicating the young defender could end up training alone for a considerable period.

Udogie had an impressive first season in the Premier League, recording two goals and three assists across 30 appearances for the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion
There is no need to rush Udogie back, especially for a behind-closed-doors friendly. He’ll return when he’s ready, and I’m confident he will perform at a high level once the season starts in August.

Hopefully, he can improve even further this season now that he has some experience under his belt.
