Tottenham Hotspur’s summer has primarily involved player departures, with only one permanent signing so far.
Ange Postecoglou’s team is set to have their first outing on Wednesday night in Scotland against Hearts of Midlothian.
New signings Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray could make their debut at Tynecastle in front of the travelling Tottenham fans.
However, some players travelling to Edinburgh could still leave the club in the coming weeks.
One player set to be part of the squad has just rejected a potential move away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham Midfielder Rejects Summer Interest from Former Manager
Daniel Levy has successfully offloaded several players not in Postecoglou’s plans this summer. The Spurs chairman had to take financial losses on some players, with only Joe Rodon and Troy Parrott bringing in money for the club.
Another player could depart in the coming weeks, but he is unwilling to step down to the Championship. According to TeamTalk, Oliver Skipp turned down an opportunity to join Leeds United this summer.
Skipp is keen to remain in the Premier League if he moves on. Spurs are not looking to loan him out this summer but would consider selling him if the right offer comes in.
A reunion with his former Norwich City boss, Daniel Farke, now appears off the table.
Oliver Skipp May Struggle for Opportunities Under Ange Postecoglou
In the 2023/24 campaign, Skipp only managed five Premier League starts under Postecoglou. While Postecoglou praised Skipp’s work ethic as ‘unbelievable,’ this did not translate into game time.
With the additions of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, Skipp may find even fewer opportunities this season. Spurs are also eyeing Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher for further midfield reinforcements.
A significant decision lies ahead for Skipp in the coming weeks.
