After spending the last two years on loan and with Ange Postecoglou not considering him for a comeback, Spurs swiftly terminated Ndombele’s contract this summer. Ndombele has now spoken for the first time since his return to France, having been unveiled as Nice’s first signing of the summer.

“Joining Nice is a natural choice given my complicated career over the last few years. Returning to France felt right. I’ve known Florian Maurice since my Lyon days, and that influenced my decision,” Ndombele said.

“I felt Nice was the best choice for me. At this stage in my career, I need to play and rediscover my form. I’m happy to be here. The coach treats me like any other player, and there’s no guarantee of playing time, but I have things to prove. The team’s success is what matters most. I had several offers, but Nice felt like the right fit.”
