Ivan Toney’s future is now under speculation
The question of who will lead Tottenham’s attack next season remains, as they search for a successor to Harry Kane. Richarlison might still leave Spurs due to interest from Saudi Arabia, which could prompt Tottenham to seek a new striker this summer. Ivan Toney has been linked with the club and is considered a likely target.
TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, however, suggests Toney will demand high wages. But Darragh MacAnthony, chairman of Toney’s former club Peterborough, refutes this, citing his conversations with Toney’s agent.
“That’s nonsense. I know for a fact. I know his agent well. I speak to him every week because he represents two of our players,” MacAnthony said on Friday.
Tottenham urgently need a new striker
In their first two pre-season games, it’s clear Spurs lack a target man, with Heung-min Son currently leading the attack. Will Lankshear has shown promise, but he may not be ready to start under Postecoglou and has attracted interest from Championship clubs.
With Toney’s price potentially dropping as he enters the last year of his contract, Tottenham might consider a move later in the window if Brentford becomes eager to sell.
