Newcastle United have reportedly submitted an offer for Barcelona’s Ferran Torres as they aim to bolster their forward line this summer. The club has already signed Lewis Hall, Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy, and Odysseas Vlachodimos in the early stages of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh have left for Nottingham Forest and Brighton, respectively, but Newcastle may soon announce another incoming transfer.

It is speculated that Eddie Howe and the club’s recruitment team are also in the market for a new attacker, with former Leeds United star Raphinha previously linked to a move to St James’ Park. However, reports from Spain now suggest that Newcastle are eyeing Torres instead, having offered €30 million (£25 million) to Barcelona.

Raphinha is reportedly no longer a target, as Barcelona are not willing to accept a fee lower than what they paid Leeds United two years ago. Additionally, the Brazilian is said to be uninterested in joining a team that won’t be competing in the Champions League next season.

Torres has now emerged as a viable alternative, with the fee for the Spanish international expected to be significantly lower. Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco are reportedly open to negotiating a deal.

Newcastle’s initial offer for Torres stands at €30 million, but Barcelona may push for a higher amount. Additionally, Eddie Howe will need to persuade the player to join Newcastle.

The club is also considering Fiorentina’s Nicolas Gonzalez, with reports from Italy indicating that Newcastle made a bid for the Argentine international recently. Although Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Prade previously stated that Gonzalez was “99 percent unsellable,” the situation may have changed. Newcastle’s offer is said to be lower than the €43 million Brentford offered twelve months ago, but the club may seek to improve the bid by selling Miguel Almiron.

Eddie Howe has also been linked with the vacant England managerial position following Gareth Southgate’s recent departure. However, Howe expressed his unwavering commitment to Newcastle during the club’s training camp in Germany, emphasizing his happiness and support at the club.
