Earlier today, reports from Italy suggested that Everton are close to finalizing a deal for Napoli’s Jesper Lindstrøm, who is expected to travel to England soon to complete the transfer formalities.
Calciomercato detailed the efforts Everton put in to secure the 24-year-old attacking midfielder. Lindstrøm joined Napoli from Eintracht Frankfurt in August 2023, after scoring nine goals and providing four assists in his final season in Germany. However, he struggled to replicate that form in his debut season in Italy, managing only 587 minutes across 29 games without scoring or assisting.
Calciomercato described Lindstrøm as a flop, noting that Napoli’s challenging season, marked by chaos following a title win and the presence of three different managers, likely made it harder for the Danish international to adapt to Serie A.
Napoli has now decided to part ways with Lindstrøm and, with no clubs willing to buy him outright, they have agreed to a loan deal. Everton appears to be his next destination, with Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis reportedly accepting Everton’s final offer on Tuesday evening. Everton will pay a €3m loan fee, with an option to buy set at €22m. If Everton makes the deal permanent, Napoli would recover the €25m they initially invested in Lindstrøm.
