Everton are on the verge of securing their fourth signing of the summer transfer window. According to Fabrizio Romano on July 23, the club is close to finalizing a deal for Napoli playmaker Jesper Lindstrom. On July 24, Romano confirmed that the deal is completed, with Lindstrom currently undergoing a medical at Everton.
The Toffees are acquiring Lindstrom on loan, paying a loan fee of around £2.1 million. They also have an option to buy him permanently for £18.4 million. Should he stay permanently, Lindstrom would sign a four-year contract with the club. Romano, known for his transfer updates, announced the news with his signature phrase, “here we go,” indicating the deal is essentially done.
Romano shared on X: “Jesper Lindstrøm to Everton, deal completed as the player’s on Merseyside to undergo medical tests. Napoli will receive €2.5m loan fee, and Everton will cover full salary until June. Buy option clause worth €22.5m with a four-year deal if he stays on permanent. Here we go.”
Despite a setback with a potential takeover, Everton’s transfer activities remain unaffected. The club has sold two players and signed three, with Lindstrom becoming the fourth addition. Although he did not fully showcase his potential at Napoli, his previous performances suggest he could be an excellent signing for Everton.
With the recent sale of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa, Everton now have funds available for further acquisitions. Losing a key midfielder like Onana means the Toffees need to strengthen their midfield. A defensive midfielder is a priority, and they have been linked with Kalvin Phillips, who is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City.
