Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has suggested that Tottenham’s Richarlison would be “lauded and worshipped” in Saudi Arabia if he transfers there this summer. Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness, who now advises elite clubs through his football consultancy, noted that many smaller Saudi clubs are eager to make a name for themselves and could be potential destinations for the 27-year-old Brazilian forward.
Richarlison has been linked with a move to the Middle East in recent transfer windows, and sources indicate there is a strong possibility he could leave before the transfer window closes on August 31st. Meanwhile, Tottenham is in the market for a new striker to replace the departed Harry Kane.
Last season, Richarlison scored 12 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions, with 21 starts under manager Ange Postecoglou. He joined Tottenham from Everton in 2022 and is contracted with Spurs for another three years.
Wyness believes Richarlison could thrive in Saudi Arabia, where the league currently has 28 registered players for the 2023-24 season. He stated on the podcast, “The Saudi market highly values Brazilian players, and Richarlison’s flair and ability to score spectacular goals would make him a standout signing. There are many clubs outside the big four in Saudi Arabia looking to establish themselves, and Richarlison would be a marquee signing for any of those teams.”
