EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle appear to be in pole position to sign  Sensational highly-rated £29m winger who’s just won the Copa America from Europe...

Newcastle appears to be leading the race to sign a highly-rated winger from Europe.

After narrowly missing out on European football last season, manager Eddie Howe is eager to secure a top-six finish this term.

To achieve this goal, significant support in the transfer market is crucial, and it seems they are close to signing Malick Thiaw.

Once that deal is finalized, Newcastle could complete the signing of a winger valued at £29 million, after missing out on Matias Soule.

Newcastle is reportedly nearing the signing of Nicolas Gonzalez. According to La Nazione, Newcastle United’s target, Nicolas Gonzalez, is close to leaving Fiorentina.

Although Gonzalez’s next destination is not confirmed, there are indications that The Magpies have made an offer.

The 39-cap Argentina international, who recently won the Copa America, is valued at around £29 million.

Atletico Madrid and clubs from Saudi Arabia are also interested in signing him, but Newcastle seems to be leading the race.

Gonzalez, a versatile 26-year-old left-footed player, can operate on both wings and as a striker, offering Howe valuable options in multiple positions.

Last season, Gonzalez scored 16 goals and provided five assists, and he played in five of Argentina’s six Copa America matches.

Securing his signature would be considered a significant achievement for Newcastle.
