Atlético Madrid is reportedly nearing a deal to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, potentially ending Diego Simeone’s search for a new midfielder. The transfer fee is expected to be around €35-40 million, but personal terms still need to be agreed upon, which could pose a challenge.
However, securing Gallagher’s signature may not be easy for Atlético. Tottenham Hotspur is also interested in the midfielder, with Sky Sports reporting that Chelsea is anticipating an offer from the London club. Football Insider adds that Spurs plan to challenge Atlético for Gallagher, who has become their top midfield target in recent weeks.
So far, Atlético Madrid has had a difficult transfer window, only managing to sign Robin Le Normand. They’ve missed out on Artem Dovbyk, and there’s a chance they could also lose out on David Hancko. If Gallagher slips through their fingers as well, it could leave Simeone extremely frustrated.
