EXCLUSIVE BOOST: Striker who Cristiano Ronaldo once called ‘excellent’ is keen to join Aston Villa this summer

After qualifying for the Champions League last season, Aston Villa is now competing with a regular contender in the competition to sign a promising target this summer.

Manager Unai Emery has already made significant strides in the transfer market, securing deals for Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen among six other new arrivals. The return of Jaden Philogene to the club could also be crucial, as he has the potential to contribute at the highest level.

However, Villa’s summer ambitions are not yet complete. According to TBR Football, Villa is now in a battle with Benfica to sign Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix.

Felix, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona, could potentially return to Catalunya, but Barcelona is currently focusing on Nico Williams and Dani Olmo. With Moussa Diaby moving to the Saudi Pro League, Villa has funds available and is looking to invest significantly in Felix.

Joao Felix is reportedly open to joining Aston Villa after discussions with Unai Emery and Monchi. Villa has held talks with Atletico Madrid about a permanent deal, but the challenge lies in Felix’s contract, which still has five years remaining, requiring him to accept a wage reduction. Meanwhile, Benfica has emerged as another option for Felix, offering him a return to Portugal.
