Italian journalist Paolo Esposito has defended Napoli’s decision to transfer Jesper Lindstrom to Everton. Lindstrom, 24, joined Everton last week on a season-long loan, with the option for a permanent transfer next summer.
Esposito criticized those who argue that Napoli suffered a loss with Lindstrom’s move, as the player had joined from Frankfurt only a year ago. He dismissed rumors that Neapolitans would support an Osimhen-Lukaku swap, insisting they would prefer to keep Osimhen, who was instrumental in their recent Scudetto win.
Esposito clarified that Napoli paid €25 million (£21m) for Lindstrom, not the €30 million (£25.2m) reported by some. He added that Napoli loaned Lindstrom to Everton for €3 million (£2.5m), with an option for Everton to buy him for €22 million (£18.5m). This arrangement would allow Napoli to recover their entire investment.
The journalist noted that some fans and media in Naples are unhappy with the club’s recent business decisions. Lindstrom had a limited impact last season, making only 29 appearances, mostly as a substitute. While his stats may not impress Everton fans, his previous form in the Bundesliga suggests he could perform well in the Premier League.
