One player’s future at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may be nearing its end.
Tottenham have had a successful summer, winning all their pre-season games and being very active in the transfer market. Timo Werner has returned on another loan, Archie Gray has joined on a permanent deal, and young Lucas Bergvall has also completed his move to Tottenham.
Additionally, Ange Postecoglou has offloaded several players, including Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Joe Rodon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Bryan Gil.
Now, Tottenham are reportedly ‘determined’ to sell another player.
Tottenham make decision on Richarlison’s future
Tottenham signed Richarlison from Everton in the summer of 2022 for £60 million (ESPN). The Brazilian had a disastrous debut Premier League campaign, scoring just one goal all season, and faced significant criticism.
However, Richarlison had a much better 2023/24 season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions while primarily playing as a striker under Postecoglou.
The report claims that Tottenham are ‘determined’ to sell Richarlison before the transfer window closes at the end of August. If successful, Spurs will then aim to ‘acquire a fresh attacking option’ before their Europa League campaign starts in September.
The striker Tottenham want as Richarlison’s replacement
Tottenham have been linked with several potential replacements over the past few weeks. Securing a new striker is high on Postecoglou’s wish list, regardless of whether Richarlison stays this summer.
Reports from a few months ago indicated that Tottenham want to sell Richarlison and sign Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke as his replacement. On Thursday, Fabrizio Romano confirmed Tottenham’s interest in Solanke, though a deal may be challenging to complete.
It will be interesting to see how much Tottenham will bid for Solanke if they decide to pursue their interest in the coming weeks.
