"This could be another  'MASSIVE BLOW' for Tottenham"- Newcastle reportedly aiming to strike a deal for £65m ‘brilliant’ attacker who Tottenham want to sign this summer

Newcastle United’s summer transfer activity has yet to gain momentum, with no significant signings made so far.

Eddie Howe has publicly expressed his frustration, putting pressure on the Newcastle board to take action.

“As long as I’m happy in the position that I’m in, and as long as I feel supported by the football club and free to work in the way that I want to work, yes. That is the crucial thing,” Howe recently told the media.

However, with just two weeks remaining before their season opener against Southampton, no substantial moves have materialized.

Despite overcoming their PSR scares in June, Newcastle has conducted minimal business.

Newcastle is eyeing a move for a £65 million forward, Dominic Solanke, who is also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur. Talks have been initiated with Crystal Palace for centre-back Marc Guehi, but he would not come cheap if the Toon were to secure the England international’s services.

Newcastle will need to outbid Tottenham, which can offer European football, to sign Solanke. Bournemouth is reportedly unwilling to negotiate below Solanke’s £65 million release clause. Tottenham is also exploring a move for Solanke to strengthen their front line.

Dominic Solanke had an impressive 2023/24 season, leading Bournemouth to a 12th-place finish with 19 goals. Although his Premier League career total stands at 29 goals, his recent performance has been praised as ‘brilliant,’ making him a potential solid signing for a team aiming for European competition.

However, Bournemouth’s reluctance to negotiate means that £65 million is a significant sum to spend on a player who has only demonstrated his abilities in one top-flight season.
