"Absolutely  Bizzare, I don’t think it’s a particularly smart signing"- Pundit now makes bizarre claim around potential Newcastle signing

### Controversy Over Newcastle United’s Potential Signing of Marc Guehi

It’s universally accepted that football opinions vary, adding to the excitement of the game. However, Newcastle United’s potential major signing of Marc Guehi has sparked some contentious views.

While it’s likely that some Newcastle fans are indifferent to the prospect of Guehi joining this summer, their numbers are probably few.

Currently, Newcastle is on track to sign what many consider England’s best central defender for around £65 million. Although this isn’t a small sum, it signifies a significant acquisition.

Anyone who watched Guehi play for England in Euro 2024 can attest to his quality and his seamless fit into Newcastle’s back four. Well, almost anyone.

Former Sunderland player Don Hutchison, who identifies as a Newcastle supporter, has voiced his doubts about the club’s decision to pursue Guehi on ESPN Sports. When asked if he was excited about the potential signing, he replied:

“Not really.

“Not because the kid isn’t a good player. They’ve signed Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer, and they have Sven Botman and Fabian Schar. That’s a lot of money to spend on a player who might not even get into the team.”

Hutchison doubts Guehi would displace Schar in the lineup
Presenter Dan Thomas argued that Guehi would surely start if Newcastle were spending such a large sum on him, but Hutchison disagreed:

“Ahead of Botman and Schar? No!

“I don’t think it’s a particularly smart signing. I think you could spend that money elsewhere.”

We suspect Hutchison might change his tune when Guehi and Botman form a formidable defensive partnership once Botman returns to full fitness in the second half of the season.
