BREAKING NEWS; Newcastle have reignited their pursuit of 'one of the best players in the world' as they close in on a deal for Marc Guehi.

Newcastle United have experienced a slow summer in terms of player acquisitions. Initially, it seemed Eddie Howe’s team was off to a strong start with the free transfer of Lloyd Kelly. However, progress stalled, with only two backup goalkeepers added since then.

There may be developments on Tyneside, as Newcastle are reportedly in negotiations to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. Guehi is keen on the move, and it appears the Magpies are also rekindling their interest in an exciting forward as the deal for the Palace defender progresses.

Despite the lack of significant additions this summer, there are some positives. Newcastle entered the transfer window knowing they needed to sell players to balance their finances against PSR regulations. They managed to avoid PSR issues without selling their top players.

Nevertheless, Eddie Howe is likely not entirely satisfied with the summer’s outcome so far. Barcelona has put former Leeds United winger Raphinha on the market, potentially looking to cash in on the Brazil international. Last week, Barcelona received a €65m (£56m) offer for Raphinha from Saudi Arabia, but it was below their valuation.

Newcastle faces significant challenges in acquiring Raphinha this summer. Besides Barcelona’s high valuation, Raphinha reportedly wants to stay at the Nou Camp to prove his worth after joining in 2022. However, he is considered one of the best players in the world and could fill a key position for Howe this summer.
