Tottenham Hotspur insider Paul O’Keefe has revealed that the club is eager to offload midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. According to O’Keefe, the Argentine international does not fit into manager Ange Postecoglou’s system.
Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, O’Keefe mentioned that Tottenham is actively trying to move on from Lo Celso. He explained that Lo Celso lacks the physical attributes required for Postecoglou’s style of play, which has limited his role to sporadic appearances.
O’Keefe stated, “Lo Celso and Reguilon are the two players they are desperately trying to get rid of. They believe Giovani doesn’t have the legs for Ange’s system, which was evident as he was only a bit-part player, making a few nice cameos.”
Despite his talent, Lo Celso has struggled to make an impact at Tottenham due to injuries and limited playing time. Last season, he made only four Premier League starts out of 22 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.
With his contract nearing its final year, Spurs see selling Lo Celso as a chance to free up space and raise funds for new signings that better fit Postecoglou’s tactical vision. As the transfer window progresses, Tottenham will be keen to finalize his departure to bring in players who can contribute more effectively to their campaign.
