Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to activate a one-year extension in Son Heung-Min’s contract, as per Ben Jacobs, keeping the South Korean star with the club until the summer of 2026.
Since joining Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, the 32-year-old has been an integral part of the squad, racking up over 400 appearances, 162 goals, and 84 assists.
Speaking to Tottenham News, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson commented on the extension, stating, “It’s a massive boost. Son is a perfect fit for Tottenham, both on and off the pitch. You can’t imagine him playing anywhere else, at least not in England.”
Robinson praised Son’s recent pre-season form, noting, “He’s already scored some fantastic goals and embodies the style of play that Ange Postecoglou wants to implement. While a longer extension would have been ideal, I’m confident that Son’s future at the club remains secure. It seems likely that he’ll decide when to move on, and that won’t be anytime soon.”
As Son approaches his ninth season with Spurs, it’s hard to imagine the team without him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Thankfully for manager Ange Postecoglou, this scenario won’t be a concern for at least two more years. Even at 32, Son continues to perform at a high level and shows no signs of slowing down.
