Wöber had a successful loan spell at Borussia Mönchengladbach, thriving in a back-three system, which contrasts with his struggles at Leeds in a back-four formation. According to Football Insider, there is a “strong possibility” that Wöber will leave before the transfer deadline, given his position behind Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon in the pecking order. Despite initial reports suggesting Wöber might stay at Leeds, the club is open to offers, especially if they can recoup the £11 million they originally paid for him.
Wöber, who made 25 appearances for Gladbach, is reportedly keen on returning to the Bundesliga. Both the player and Leeds appear to agree that a transfer would be mutually beneficial, considering Wöber has only played 20 matches for the club since his January 2023 arrival.
While he struggled in Leeds’ back four, Wöber found success in Germany’s back-three system, and this adaptability could attract Bundesliga clubs. His status as an Austrian international, despite a mixed performance at the Euros, adds to his value, and Leeds will look to secure the right fee for him.
