Terrible for Leeds: 2/10 dreadful showing as Farke's troubles continue, MOTM earns 8 - Leeds player ratings vs. West Brom

Leeds United and West Brom played out a goalless draw in a subdued match at The Hawthorns on 17 August.

Despite being the better team after the first half, West Brom couldn’t break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes.

Carlos Corberan’s side controlled possession but failed to find the back of the net against Daniel Farke’s Leeds.

Here are our player ratings for the match:

**Illan Meslier – 6**

**Jayden Bogle – 4**
Another disappointing performance from the right-back, who is struggling to justify his place in the starting lineup. Last season, Farke got excellent performances from Archie Gray in this role, despite him being a midfielder. Bogle needs to improve quickly or risk losing his spot.

**Joe Rodon – 5**
Made several questionable decisions both with and without the ball, nearly costing Leeds. He hasn’t looked like the same player who impressed on loan last season. His positioning was also suspect at times.

**Pascal Struijk – 8**
The standout of the two center-backs, Struijk was solid in and out of possession. Although he struggled in aerial duels at times, his determination made up for it. He was also a threat in the opposition’s penalty area. Hopefully, he can inspire his teammates to raise their game.

**Junior Firpo – 6**
Offered some attacking threat, but his defensive shortcomings remained an issue. If West Brom had more dangerous wide players, Firpo and Bogle would have struggled even more. The former Barcelona defender needs to step up his game.

**Ethan Ampadu – 7**
A calming presence in midfield, Ampadu understands what it means to wear the Leeds shirt. He nearly scored a spectacular goal early on, narrowly missing from long range. His passing accuracy was above 80 percent, making it a solid performance.

**Dan James – 5**
Tried to make runs in behind but wasn’t on the same wavelength as his teammates. He completed just six passes during the match, which won’t please Farke.

**Joel Piroe – 2**
Struggled in the number 10 role behind Mateo Joseph and had a poor outing overall. Piroe was arguably the worst player on the pitch, managing only six completed passes in 64 minutes with a pass accuracy of just 60 percent. If Farke continues to deploy him in this position, more disappointing performances are likely.

**Wilfried Gnonto – 4**
Lost most of his ground duels and failed to have the impact Crysencio Summerville did on the left. Gnonto couldn’t break through the defense or create scoring opportunities, and his work off the ball was lacking as well.

**Mateo Joseph – 5**
Had just over 20 touches, none of which came in dangerous areas. Farke appears to have faith in him, but Joseph is yet to prove his worth.

**Substitutes:**

Brenden Aaronson – 5
Joe Rothwell – 3
Patrick Bamford – 4
