Jhon Duran has stated that “nothing has changed” regarding his future after putting an end to transfer rumors by playing and scoring for Aston Villa against West Ham. The Colombian striker made a significant impact as a substitute at the London Stadium, helping Villa kick off their Premier League campaign with a win. Duran finished off a well-executed move, capitalizing on the build-up play by Ian Maatsen and Jacob Ramsey with a left-footed strike from 12 yards.
During his goal celebration, Duran appeared to reaffirm his loyalty to Villa, despite summer speculation linking him to Chelsea and West Ham. He later reinforced his commitment on Instagram, saying, “Nothing has changed. Another day in business. Happy to score again and secure three points, the fans were amazing today.”
Last season, Duran netted five Premier League goals in 23 appearances, although he only started three matches. Ollie Watkins was Unai Emery’s preferred striker, and that trend is expected to continue this season. However, Moussa Diaby’s transfer to Saudi club Al-Ittihad could lead to more playing time for Duran.
