Tottenham Hotspur will kick off their 2024/25 season on Monday night with an away match against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. This will be Leicester’s first game back in the Premier League after winning the Championship, following their relegation in the 2022/23 season.
Under manager Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham enjoyed a strong pre-season, with several of the club’s young talents standing out. The club has added five new players this summer, with Wilson Odobert being the latest arrival. However, the transfer window has largely been marked by player departures, with 12 players leaving the club so far. While some of these were sales, others, like Jamie Donley, left on loan to Leyton Orient.
Now, it seems Leicester City is interested in signing a Tottenham player whose future at the club is uncertain. According to journalist Tom Barclay, Leicester is keen on securing a deal for Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp before the transfer window closes.
Skipp is part of a crowded midfield at Tottenham, and his chances of regular playing time this season appear limited. Earlier in the summer, Spurs offered him to Wolves in a potential swap deal for Pedro Neto, but Wolves preferred a cash-only deal with Chelsea. Despite this, Skipp remained at the club and featured during pre-season, sometimes even filling in at center-back for Postecoglou.
A product of Tottenham’s academy, Skipp showed promise during his loan spell with Norwich City in the Championship. However, since returning to Spurs, the 23-year-old has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, managing only five Premier League starts last season.
While Skipp was once praised as “unbelievable,” his limited playing time suggests that a move away from Tottenham could be the best option for both the player and the club. A transfer to Leicester could see Skipp reunite with former teammate Harry Winks at the King Power Stadium.
