Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner believes “anything is possible” as the summer transfer window nears its closure on August 30. This leaves room for speculation about Newcastle United’s pursuit of Palace center-back Marc Guehi. Eddie Howe has identified Guehi as a top transfer target, but despite four bids from Newcastle, the latest reportedly totaling £65 million with add-ons, no agreement has been reached.
Guehi, who captained Palace during their Premier League opening day defeat to Brentford, remains central to Glasner’s plans. Speaking to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, Glasner emphasized the importance of squad policy and player movement over the upcoming Brentford match.
When asked about potential departures, such as Eberechi Eze, and the possibility of Juventus midfielder Filip Kostic joining, Glasner refrained from commenting directly but acknowledged that the transfer window remains open for two more weeks, suggesting that changes could still occur.
Meanwhile, Newcastle has not given up hope of signing Guehi, though Howe cautioned that the club won’t overpay. Palace chairman Steve Parish has expressed a similar stance, stating that Guehi is a “superstar” and will command a significant fee if he is to leave.
Parish explained to talkSPORT that while Palace isn’t typically a final destination for players, they are open to selling for the right price. However, as of now, no such offer has met their valuation.
