Despite the tough loss, the former Burnley manager singled out Tim Iroegbunam for praise, saying, “I must say, I thought Tim was terrific. He’s had a strong pre-season, really, really impressive. Watching him enjoy his football, work hard, break up play, and show his skill was fantastic. I have to give him a special mention.”
When asked specifically about Iroegbunam, Dyche emphasized his valuable Premier League and Championship experience, noting how it showed during pre-season. “He’s done really well, and he kept that going today,” Dyche added. “Other players are still learning, but Tim has already adapted.”
Iroegbunam: Everton’s Bright Spot Against Brighton
In an otherwise forgettable afternoon, with Goodison Park emptying before the final whistle, Iroegbunam again stood out. His strong pre-season performances had raised questions about whether he could maintain that form in the Premier League, but any doubts quickly vanished.
Iroegbunam was the most composed player in royal blue that day, confidently controlling the ball and consistently winning it back. His aggressive tackling and relentless tracking back were refreshing to see, especially as Everton struggled defensively and offensively.
As James Tarkowski and Michael Keane stumbled at the back, and Calvert-Lewin struggled up front, Iroegbunam remained solid and composed, even as fatigue set in later in the match.
