Sunderland’s dynamic winger Jack Clarke is reportedly open to a return to Leeds United this summer amid growing transfer interest from the Whites, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
Football Insider reports that the 23-year-old has rejected a recent contract offer from Sunderland, fueling speculation about his future. Leeds are said to be monitoring the situation as they seek replacements for Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.
Clarke, who came through Leeds’ academy before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 for £8.5 million, ultimately joined Sunderland in 2022. He has since become a key player for the Black Cats in the Championship.
Graeme Bailey confirmed that Leeds are in contention to sign Clarke if he leaves Sunderland before the transfer deadline. The player is reportedly open to returning to Elland Road, but Leeds face competition for his signature, including interest from Southampton.
Despite Clarke being under contract with Sunderland until 2026, the club may consider selling him for the right price. Clarke has made a significant impact since joining Sunderland, contributing 25 goals and 16 assists in 87 Championship appearances.
A return to Leeds would be a huge boost for Daniel Farke’s side, especially if they can fend off Premier League interest from Southampton and other clubs. However, a move to the Premier League seems the more likely outcome at this stage, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
