Kieran Trippier is once again being linked with a potential departure from Newcastle United, amid ongoing speculation about his long-term future at the club. Back in January, the England international was strongly connected with a move away from St James’ Park, particularly with Bayern Munich expressing interest. Despite offers reportedly around £12.8 million, Newcastle opted to keep the 33-year-old rather than sell him to Bayern.
Now, fresh rumors suggest Trippier could be on the move this summer, with Everton reportedly interested in securing him on loan. According to David Ornstein, Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche, addressed the speculation ahead of their upcoming match against Tottenham Hotspur, humorously noting, “He’s one of many names that have come up here. As if by magic when we haven’t got a right-back!”
Trippier had a strong start to last season, but his form declined over the winter before a calf injury sidelined him for several months. He made a brief return for Newcastle’s final three games and then played a key role in Gareth Southgate’s England squad during the Euros.
Since then, however, Trippier has had limited involvement in Newcastle’s pre-season, making just one appearance and playing for the Under-21s in their draw with Sunderland on Monday night. Meanwhile, Tino Livramento, who started against his former club Southampton last weekend, is expected to start again on Sunday against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
