"Get ready for more than you expected" – Unused Crysencio Summerville shares a cryptic message weeks after his move from Leeds to West Ham, which is a positive sign.

West Ham’s acquisition of Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United has been one of their most exciting signings this summer.

The club expressed their pleasure at bringing the 22-year-old Dutch winger to the team, especially given he was the standout player in the Championship for Leeds last season. Summerville’s departure was anticipated after Leeds failed to secure Premier League promotion.

West Ham secured Summerville’s signature for a reported £26 million, despite Leeds United’s request to keep the details of the transfer confidential. Leeds required West Ham to sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding the fee, as confirmed in the official statement about Summerville’s departure.

There was considerable speculation about the actual amount paid, with estimates ranging from £20 million to £34 million. A source close to the West Ham board revealed that Summerville had a £25 million release clause that had to be paid in a single installment, which is rare in modern transfers. West Ham negotiated to pay in installments but had to pay an additional £1.3 million as a result.

Replacing Summerville will be a significant challenge for Leeds. For West Ham, integrating him into the team may also be difficult. Summerville was a substitute in West Ham’s opening match against Aston Villa, making his debut in the 73rd minute. Despite showing promise, West Ham lost 2-1 after missing key chances.

In the following match against Crystal Palace, Summerville did not see any action as West Ham won 2-0. Some of his new teammates, including Tomas Soucek, consoled him at the end of the game, acknowledging his frustration.

Summerville posted a cryptic message on Instagram, suggesting he is preparing for a period of patience as he adapts to his new role. His message, “If God is making you wait, then be prepared to receive more than you asked for. God’s plan,” hints at his readiness to wait for his opportunities.

As Summerville adjusts to the higher competition level at West Ham, his current lack of playing time is challenging. With Julen Lopetegui favoring Mohammed Kudus on the left wing, it remains to be seen if Kudus will shift to a central role to accommodate Summerville.

Despite the current situation, Summerville’s attitude appears positive, which should benefit West Ham if he remains motivated when given the chance. His opportunity to contribute could come soon, potentially in West Ham’s upcoming Carabao Cup match against Bournemouth.
