West Ham’s acquisition of Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United has been one of their most exciting signings this summer.

There was considerable speculation about the actual amount paid, with estimates ranging from £20 million to £34 million. A source close to the West Ham board revealed that Summerville had a £25 million release clause that had to be paid in a single installment, which is rare in modern transfers. West Ham negotiated to pay in installments but had to pay an additional £1.3 million as a result.
Replacing Summerville will be a significant challenge for Leeds. For West Ham, integrating him into the team may also be difficult. As Summerville adjusts to the higher competition level at West Ham, his current lack of playing time is challenging. With Julen Lopetegui favoring Mohammed Kudus on the left wing, it remains to be seen if Kudus will shift to a central role to accommodate Summerville.
