Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has suggested that full-back Issa Kabore might stay at the Etihad Stadium for the 2024/25 season.
Kabore, who was named as a substitute for City’s 4-1 Premier League win over Ipswich Town on Saturday, was also part of Guardiola’s squad for the FA Community Shield earlier this month. The Burkinabe international spent last season on loan at Luton Town but has yet to make a first-team appearance for Manchester City and did not join the pre-season tour in the United States.
The 23-year-old has been linked with potential moves to other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, as well as Serie A’s AS Roma. Last season, Kabore made 24 Premier League appearances for Luton, providing two assists.
Recently, Kabore has been training with Manchester City’s first team at the City Football Academy. Guardiola, discussing Kabore’s future as the transfer window nears its end, said: “Maybe, maybe, maybe. He’s training really well and has been useful in positions where we sometimes need help. So yes, maybe. We have to decide. It’s not decided yet.”
Guardiola made these comments after Manchester City’s victory over Ipswich Town, where summer signings Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan both featured. Gundogan made a surprising return to City on a free transfer from FC Barcelona, rejoining the club on a one-year deal after leaving for La Liga just over a year ago.
