Leeds United are pursuing Freiburg and Hungary right-winger Roland Sallai before the approaching transfer deadline. According to Philipp Hinze of Sky Sports Germany, Sallai is ‘open’ to exploring new opportunities.
After winning only one of their first three Championship matches this season, Leeds manager Daniel Farke is eager to bolster the squad to secure promotion to the Premier League, especially after narrowly missing out last season. The departure of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United has added urgency to find a suitable replacement.
Summerville was a key contributor last season, scoring 21 goals across all competitions, making it challenging for Farke to find an equivalent replacement. Sallai has become a top target for Leeds, following an impressive season in the German Bundesliga where he scored eight goals and provided four assists, earning praise for his performances with the national team.
Hinze reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Leeds have made contact with Sallai and are actively pursuing him, although a French top-flight club is also interested. Sallai is reportedly open to a new challenge.
In addition, Leeds are considering strengthening their defense with Bournemouth’s Max Aarons. The Yorkshire Evening Post notes that Leeds are interested in Aarons, who chose Bournemouth over Leeds last summer. Farke, a fan of Aarons from their time together at Norwich City, is eager to reunite with the 24-year-old. Aarons’ omission from Bournemouth’s recent Premier League matchday squad against Newcastle has further fueled speculation about his future.
