Simon Jordan has shared his outlook on Everton’s season amid ongoing instability at the club.
Speaking live on talkSPORT with co-host Jim White on August 27, Jordan expressed that while Everton fans are desperate for stability, he believes the team will manage to stay in the Premier League by the end of the season. He hopes that off-field issues will be resolved soon.
Currently, Everton are at the bottom of the Premier League table, having conceded seven goals and failed to score in their first two matches. They face Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Jordan, the former Crystal Palace owner, stated: “Everton have a strong enough squad to overcome these challenges and avoid relegation. I understand that’s not what fans want to hear right now. They are looking for progress, which may come once the ownership situation is settled and the new stadium is completed. For now, the priority is to stabilize the club.”
Everton fans are already disheartened, and it’s still only August. The positive end to last season, which saw Sean Dyche lead the team 14 points clear of relegation, seems distant given the turmoil behind the scenes, including two failed takeover attempts.
There is a low chance of John Textor acquiring Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in the club, with mounting debts as the team prepares to move into the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium next year. This poor start to the season has even led to confrontations between fans and the squad after the recent heavy loss to Tottenham.
Jordan, who has connections to Textor through their shared association with Crystal Palace, offered his latest thoughts on the ongoing exclusive talks between Textor and Moshiri.
