Offer Declined; Tottenham Hotspur were offered the chance to sign Danish sensation Matt O’Riley before he ended up joining Brighton and Hove Albion.

Tottenham Hotspur had the opportunity to sign Danish talent Matt O’Riley before he eventually joined Brighton & Hove Albion.

O’Riley, who was part of Fulham’s youth system and briefly played for their first team, left Craven Cottage in 2020. Afterward, he returned to England when Brighton secured a deal with Celtic for his services.

Before making the move to Brighton, O’Riley’s agents offered him to Tottenham. However, according to Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe, the club chose not to pursue him despite his impressive performance in the Scottish Premiership last season. O’Riley featured in 49 matches, scoring 19 goals and providing 18 assists. Despite these achievements, he was not selected for Denmark’s Euro 2024 squad.

Although several clubs showed interest, Tottenham declined the chance to sign the former Celtic midfielder. This decision allowed Brighton to finalize the transfer, marking O’Riley’s return to England. It remains to be seen if he can replicate his success in the Premier League.
