Leeds United recently made a £13 million offer for Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer, which has been met with disapproval from Sheffield United’s manager, Chris Wilder.
Leeds is gearing up for a busy period as they aim to strengthen their squad under Daniel Farke, particularly in midfield. Since Farke’s arrival, the club has primarily focused on domestic signings, including targeting players from rival teams.
According to the Star, Leeds’ bid of £13 million for Hamer was rejected by Sheffield United. The offer is reportedly far below the £18 million valuation set by the Blades. Wilder criticized the low bid, labeling it as “Mickey Mouse” tactics and rejected Farke’s comments about loan players as “complete fabrication.”
Despite the bid, Wilder praised Hamer’s performance during Sheffield United’s 1-0 loss to Barnsley in the EFL Cup, noting that Hamer brought urgency to the game and was a key player after coming off the bench. Wilder commended Hamer for handling the speculation around his future effectively and urged players to perform at their best regardless of transfer rumors.
The continued involvement of Hamer in matches suggests that Leeds is unlikely to reach an agreement soon, or that Hamer himself might be pushing for a move. Given his quality and Sheffield United’s position, commanding a higher fee seems justified, and Leeds may not be able to meet the £18 million asking price for him.
