Giovani Lo Celso is reportedly very dissatisfied with his current situation, according to Estadio Deportivo, who have spoken with sources close to the Tottenham Hotspur player.
The report indicates that the 28-year-old expected to leave Spurs in the summer of 2023 but chose to stay based on promises from Ange Postecoglou about increased playing time. However, these opportunities did not materialize, causing frustration for Lo Celso as it jeopardized his Copa America aspirations with Argentina. Despite not being a regular starter, he contributed with an assist in the tournament final, helping Argentina win the Copa America.
Now back at Spurs, Lo Celso has not featured in matches and is reportedly training separately from the team, with no communication from Postecoglou. It seems Lo Celso has decided that leaving is his best option, with a “total disagreement” between him and Tottenham’s management.
Although Aston Villa had shown interest previously, Lo Celso prefers to leave English football entirely and would favor a return to Spain. Real Betis, who have long considered re-signing him, have not yet made any moves. Lo Celso might opt to wait and sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January, ahead of his contract’s expiration next summer.
