Deal Done Imminent; Leeds are reportedly at the Zenith  Level to secure Fortuna Dusseldorf central midfielder after dealt many blows in recent months as key players have moved on. 25-year-old maestro will undergo a medical in Leeds on Thursday ahead of his official unveiling as Farke’s new signing.

**Leeds United Set to Bolster Midfield with Ao Tanaka as Transfer Deadline Approaches**

Leeds United aim to secure back-to-back wins in the Championship as they host Hull City at Elland Road this Saturday. After their 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, thanks to goals from Brenden Aaronson and Dan James, Leeds are preparing for their next match.

However, before focusing on Hull City, manager Daniel Farke and his team must navigate the final two days of the summer transfer window. With several key players departing, including Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, and Glen Kamara, Farke has been active in the transfer market. New signings have included Alex Cairns, Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Largie Ramazani, Joe Rothwell, and Manor Solomon.

Leeds are expected to make further moves before the transfer window closes, with a central midfielder reportedly on their radar. According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Leeds are close to finalizing a deal for Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Ao Tanaka. Plettenberg describes Tanaka as a “top” player, and the deal is said to be worth around €4 million (£3.4 million). The Japan international is scheduled to undergo a medical in Leeds today and is set to sign a contract through the 2027/28 season.

Tanaka’s arrival would address the gap left by Kamara’s move to Rennes. Although a release clause for Tanaka was reported to be £2.65 million, the final fee might be slightly higher to allow for staggered payments.

Tanaka’s performance in the 2. Bundesliga shows promise, with his ability to contribute both defensively and in the final third. He registered ten goal involvements in 30 matches last season, which could provide Leeds with a valuable upgrade over Kamara. Tanaka’s presence is expected to enhance Leeds’ midfield, offering both a solid defensive presence and creative potential.
