Leeds United are set to make a €6 million offer for winger Bachir Belloumi from Portuguese side Farense, according to Algerian outlet Maghrebactu.
Belloumi, who scored seven goals and provided four assists in the Primeira Liga last season, is also a target for Marseille and Club Brugge. However, Leeds have emerged as the leading contender to secure the 22-year-old talent, as manager Daniel Farke seeks to add another offensive player to strengthen his squad.
Leeds have already signed midfielder Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Dusseldorf for £3.4 million and are expected to complete a deal for defender Isaac Schmidt from St. Gallen before the deadline.
Belloumi now has a few hours to decide his future. Maghrebactu reports that Leeds are determined to outmaneuver interest from Marseille and Brugge. Farke views Belloumi as a key addition to offset the loss of players like Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.
Farense is likely to accept the €6 million offer, but the final decision rests with Belloumi, who must weigh the appeal of regular Championship football against the European competition offered by other clubs.
Analyst Ben Mattinson praised Belloumi, suggesting he would be a transformative signing for Leeds: “An insane level of quality for the Championship, genuinely a game-changing signing. Raphinha profile.”
In contrast, Leeds are set to miss out on Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United. Despite recent reports linking the attacking midfielder to Leeds, Sheffield United is unwilling to sell their £15 million-rated star at the last minute. Consequently, Farke will explore other options.
