Gordon, who played 30 minutes plus extra time, succeeded with all his dribble attempts, made three key passes, and scored in the penalty shootout. His performance suggests he could be a more effective option against Spurs.
This season, Gordon has featured in both of Newcastle’s Premier League matches, scoring against Bournemouth in the 1-1 draw and creating one significant chance per game. He has averaged 2.5 key passes and one shot per game, highlighting his ability to create opportunities and find the net.
Last season, Gordon ranked in the top 3% for goal-creating actions per 90 minutes and the top 1% for penalties won per 90 minutes, showcasing his threat in attack. He will aim to maintain this form to help Newcastle secure a Champions League spot.
Teammate Bruno Guimaraes praised Gordon’s contributions, noting his scoring and assisting abilities and expressing hope that Gordon gets more opportunities with England.
Howe will be looking for a standout performance from Gordon to potentially ignite Newcastle’s season against Tottenham.
