Darren Bent has been impressed by Wilfried Gnonto’s significant decision to sign a new contract with Leeds United at Elland Road.

Bent, speaking on talkSPORT on September 2, noted that Gnonto’s contract extension is a major boost for Leeds, especially after a summer of high-profile departures. He highlighted the departure of Archie Gray as particularly painful for Leeds fans but praised Gnonto’s decision as crucial for the club’s promotion ambitions.
Bent commented: “With the players who have left, Leeds fans have felt the impact, especially with Archie Gray’s departure. Gnonto signing a new contract is significant. While Leeds may not have the strongest squad in the Championship, they have quality and can definitely make a push for promotion.”
Few Leeds supporters expected Gnonto to stay beyond the transfer window, especially after the exits of Gray and Crysencio Summerville. The addition of new players like Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon will support Daniel Farke’s promotion efforts, but retaining Gnonto is equally important.
