“I can’t even lift my head up my neck was killing  me when they started singing the Sunderland songs, i was totally  petrified”- Alan Shearer tells HILARIOUS Sunderland Incident after a HARROWING King’s Cross journey

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer found himself in an unexpected predicament when he was stuck on a train full of exuberant Sunderland fans celebrating their rise to the top of the Championship.

Returning from a friend’s wedding in Italy, Shearer arrived in London and boarded the last train to Newcastle. To his dismay, the train was packed with Sunderland supporters jubilant after their 3-1 victory over Portsmouth.

To avoid recognition, Shearer tried to stay inconspicuous but was still subjected to a barrage of songs directed at him. Despite the commotion, he managed to remain undetected and later joked about his sore neck from spending four hours with his head down.

He recounted the experience on The Rest Is Football podcast: “An LNER worker warned me about the crowd, and I thought, ‘Oh no.’ Sunderland fans had packed the train, and I had to hide in the corner with my cap on, surrounded by boisterous fans with beers. The entire aisle was filled with them, and they started singing Newcastle and Shearer-related songs. I kept my head down the whole time and ended up with a sore neck from trying not to be noticed.”

Shearer hoped the situation would improve once the train reached Durham, but a portion of the fans continued to Newcastle with him. He remained anxious until he finally got off at his destination, relieved that no one recognized him. He ended his story with a playful message to the Sunderland fans: “So to all you Sunderland fans on coach C, **** you!”
